Let’s Get Started!

At “WeeDreams” we believe the preschool years are the most important years for learning. It is a time of development that can greatly influence a child’s future.

Children are self-taught discoverers that learn through experiences. Parents and child care providers should not look at themselves as teachers, but as guides. 6uiding them through their learning experiences.

A basic daily schedule helps children know what to expect during their day, which adds a feeling of security. But remember to be flexible! Sometimes “learning opportunities” are unplanned events… a rainbow, honking geese flying south, or perfect snow for building a snowman! If the power goes out you could talk about electricity and what people might have done before it was invented.

Some activities can get a little messy, but keep in mind the “product” of the activity is not what is important but the experience itself! If an activity is not going well, move on to something else. If an activity is going well, give the children some extra time.

Always remember the importance of your job! It’s not always an easy one. Sometimes you might run into a challenging child that will need some extra hugs and help. Reading books on child development can give understanding in various stages of growth and behavior.

Keep up the good work!
